Shearwater will be operating a ‘Greet the People and Historic Bridge Tour’, using a red, open-top, double-decker bus, starting in June this year. The tour is designed to invite interaction with Victoria Falls locals, providing a taste of life in this tourist town and World Heritage Site.

An instant sense of community and an appreciation and insight into the ordinary day-to-day lives of local Zimbabweans is a feature of the tour. After a slow gentle roll around the market and local dwellings, next on its route is Zambezi Drive. More often than not any permutation of elephant, buffalo, kudu, impala, baboon, vervet monkey, warthog, mongoose and all kinds of bird and insect life will appear on this road. The top deck allows elevated views into the bush as well as clear perspectives of the Zambezi River.

The bus then pulls up on the spectacular Victoria Falls Bridge where truly breathtaking views of the Batoka Gorge and the Victoria Falls themselves await. Passengers disembark to enjoy the well known and popular historical bridge tour, bringing the history of the bridge alive with a close up, slightly adrenalin-inducing tour, guided by the flamboyant 110 year old Frenchman and engineer, Georges Imbault. The whole bus tour is approximately two hours in duration.
