River deep, mountain high! More about the Quest Africa experience

Posted on 6 August 2015

Travelling from the lowest to the highest parts of Zimbabwe is yet another adventure for the young men of Quest Africa.  The renowned Outward Bound challenges the young men with hiking in the unique Chimanimani Mountains, swimming in icy cold mountain pools and star gazing at night.  This is sharply contrasted with a variety of experiences in the Zimbabwean lowveld. Lucky sightings at Malilangwe Game Reserve where they saw four of the ‘Big 5’ in one day and witnessed a pack of wild dog on the move, massive herds of buffalo at the waterhole and were involved in darting and treating an old black Rhino who had come off second best in a fight.  Apart from the wildlife aspect the boys were also treated to a tour of the stunning 6* luxury lodge, Pamushana, and a trip to a ‘Cultural Village’ where they learned ancient Shangaan  bush skills which they had to put into practice during their 24hr Survival Challenge deep into ‘Big 5’ country.  In a couple of weeks they have had to adapt to two very different scenarios.
