Quest Africa take on Iron Will 2015

Posted on 11 May 2015

Quest Africa take on Iron Will 2015. The experience, friendships and the journey of self discovery that this event provides has been a memorable experience for the boys of Quest 2015.
They came in boxer shorts, t-shirts and tackies, lycra, padded tri-suits, wrap round sun glasses, but all nine Quest teams shared a certain amount of apprehension as they launched themselves into the Eco Charity Endurance Challenge that is Iron Will.  This year the event was held in the beautiful setting of Jabulani Safaris in Shangani.  This provided many miles of perfect cycling, and hiking and the multiple water-lily filled dams were the venue for canoeing, swimming and camping.  The teams battled it out against the hardened veterans of this event (who, incidentally the boys had COMPLETELY under-estimated!) over 4 days of racing.   Youth have all the energy, strength and enthusiasm to carry them through, and even when they were hit with mechanical failure, exhaustion, and navigational disaster, their humour and determination to complete, carried them through.

All 9 teams finished with 5 coming in the top ten.  The Quest Staff put in a team which with a little more experience and ‘military encouragement’ came an amazing 3rd position overall.  The top Quest team, ‘Let’s get Questive’ put in a remarkable effort to come 6th overall.
