Imvelo Safaris improving the lives of the communities in Hwange

Posted on 11 May 2015

At Imvelo our focus is continual work to improve the lives of the communities in which we operate. Last month, we held our latest Teachers workshop, co-sponsored by Oxford University Press (SA).  A total of 13 primary school teachers and 6 Secondary school teachers were trained in the 2015 English training workshop held at Ngamo Secondary school from the 27th to the 29th of March. The teachers were drawn from Mlevu, Kapane,Ngamo, Ziga,Mpindo, Mtshwayeli primary schools, Kapane Secondary and Ngamo Secondary. The objective of the training was to help pupils comprehend English as a language of instruction and by so doing aiming at improving results in these rural schools.

The training had a total of 40 pupils, 20 from primary level and 20 from secondary level so that teachers could demonstrate the skills taught and identify weaknesses. The workshop was a great success as the attendance was 100% for both the trained and trainers. Since our partnership started with Oxford University Press ( SA), they have donated over 6000 books to the schools, an amazing achievement which we are truly grateful for and we look forward to continuing this partnership through 2015 and beyond.
