Benjamin Japp studied his degree in Stellenbosch and has nurtured his passion for wines from a young age. Although born in the highlands of Scotland, Ben was schooled in South Africa while much of his family resided in Zambia. Working in the UK and Spain he gained a broader grasp of the hospitality industry before he returned to The Cape to pursue his career in the art of wine. Ben moved to Waterford Wine Estate as steward of the tasting room. Ben has qualified as a Cape Wine Ambassador and Cape Wine Steward and worked in the highly acclaimed Rust en Vrede Restaurant at the Rust en Vrede Wine Estate.

Outside of the wine cellar Ben enjoys the philosophical works of John Locke and is a keen cricketer. However, his main interest remains the development of wine culture and trade in Africa.
