Chobe Golf Club hosted Elephant Hills Golf Club on 2-3 November at Cresta Mowana Safari Lodge. The format was Match Play being 4 ball better ball on the Saturday and head to head on Sunday.

The first draw took place on the Friday at the Caracal Biodiversity Centre in Kasane with an intimidating backdrop of snakes including black mambas, puff adders, several Mozambique spitting cobras and a gaboon viper. This was part of the home psychological campaign but the visitors from Elephant Hills were up to the challenge and won the first day five matches against three.

On Saturday afternoon Coffee Buzz in Kasane laid on a boat cruise, followed by a braai and the singles draw.

Sunday saw the EHGC Ladies romp to a five-to-one victory leaving the Chobe men needing to win nine of their ten matches to win the competition. They managed six matches only, so Elephant Hills were victors by 14 to 10, resulting in Dave Cooper accepting the winners’ trophy from Richard Strugnell.

A fitting finale was a fine lunch laid on by Cresta Mowana at the Club House.
